METSOURCE PRODUCTS IN ACTION:
The Bay Area Rapid Transit Commission in San Francisco is rebuilding and reinvesting in the BART system to accommodate for the additional growth in population expected over the next 20 years. One of these initiatives is to update waterproofing in Tunnels and Structures. MetSource is proud to have supplied product that will offer a huge cost savings over conventional methods.
OUR WIN-WIN SOLUTIONS CREATE VALUE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS. HOW CAN METSOURCE CREATE A WIN-WIN SITUATION FOR YOU?
One of the challenges of waterproofing between Concrete Slabs in a Tunnel is the Structural Rebar that connects the 2 slabs. The Rebar interrupts the ability to Lay a continuous waterproof membrane sheet between slabs. Traditionally, the rebar covers are cut from 8 foot x 60 foot Long rolls of Flexible PVC Sheet Membrane and manually placed.Any rebar connection must be hand molded and heat welded to the overlaying membrane sheet. This particular underground BART Tunnel required thousands of Labor hours due to the necessary 18,000 rebar connections.
Our solution, a Rebar Anchor Boot. injection molded in a material that would allow heat welding to the Flexible PVC Sheet Membrane. The Rebar Anchor Boots allow a Laborer to quickly place a rebar boot over a rebar connection and heat weld to the membrane, saving or client both time and money.
Rebar Anchor Boot used for Waterproofing
To provide a material that would offer waterproofing at 18,000 rebar connections and heat weldable to existing Flexible PVC Sheet membrane.
