Forging with MetSource
The forging process delivers near net shape product with material integrity and directional grain flow imparting desirable directional properties such as tensile strength, ductility, impact toughness, fracture toughness, and fatigue strength. Forgings are free from internal voids and porosity. The process achieves consistent material uniformity assuring a predictable response to heat treatment.

Solving Problems
Check out our case studies to see how we solve real-life problems.
Typical Forging Products:
- Aerospace components such as stators, spacers, seals, thrust cones, seats and flanges
- Food Industry components such as blenders, vessels, conveyor parts, mixers, gear rings
- Pump & valve components such as fluid ends, pressure vessels, pump bodies, cylinders
- Bar, rings, and shapes for customer stocking programs
- Heavy industry components such as gear blanks, shafts, tubes, flange end cylinders
- Automotive components such as suspension, brake, and steering systems
When to use Forgings:
- When high-quality starting material is required that is straight, true, and concentric
- Solid bars or tubes requiring further machining
- When shape or profile can be forged in to reduce machining cost
- Variety of volumes, including small usage

Additional Services:
Conversion Assistance
Do you flame cut rings out of plate and want to investigate the use of forgings to save material cost?
Do you have a part that you would like to convert to a forging for near-net shaping or improved mechanical properties?

Metallurgical Assistance
Do you want to speak to a metallurgist regarding a part and environment to help with material selection? Alloy selection can greatly affect the overall cost and part manufacturability.
